WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio (WDTN) – A representative of Wright-Patterson Air Force Base released a statement Tuesday afternoon regarding an injury sustained during the active shooter alarm earlier this month.

Marie Vanover, Director of WPAFB Installation Public Affairs, confirmed that, “One of our Defenders was injured during the incident; however, since the investigation is on-going, I cannot on any specifics.”

When asked to clarify what a “Defender” is defined as, Vanover further explained that a Defender is otherwise known as a Security Forces member.

She did not go into detail in terms of what type of injury was sustained or how serious it was.
