A woman was released from the hospital Monday after police say she was injured in a double shooting in Springfield early Saturday morning.
Authorities say the woman, identified in a police report as Jessie Powell, was taken to Springfield Regional Medical Center after they responded to the shooting in the 1530 block of West Clark Street.
According to the police report, Powell suffered a gunshot wound to the chest. She allegedly told police on scene that she and her boyfriend were arguing but couldn’t remember what happened after that or who shot her.
Raimundo Punnett, 32, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Neighbors who spoke with 2 NEWS off-camera said they are surprised by the shooting since the area usually stays pretty quiet.
Police say the incident is still under investigation and no arrests have been made.
