What you should know about Centerville’s construction season

Local News

CENTERVILLE, Ohio (WDTN) – The warm weather is ushering in the unofficial start of construction season here.

Tuesday, May 29th, contractors started work on a major $1.1 million resurfacing project in Centerville, starting with Clyo Road and including more than two dozen other residential streets.

Drivers can expect many of the roads to be limited to one lane while workers mill and pave the streets.

“The road will be open to vehicular traffic, but there will be some obstacles,” explained James Brinegar, the Centerville City Engineer.

Brinegar said the project will fix cracks and potholes caused by harsh winters and the city expects the improvements to last 15-20 years.

Despite the hassle of lane closures and road work, neighbors said they’d welcome the long-term repairs.

“I’m okay with it,” said Centerville resident Aaron Forsythe. “I think they should spend my tax dollars on important things (like that).”

Brinegar said the upcoming construction season is a good reminder for drivers to be aware in work zones.

“Make sure you’re paying attention,” Brinegar said. “Don’t be distracted as you go through a construction zone, don’t be speeding. Pay attention to the signs, pay attention to the workers.”
