WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WDTN) – Washington Township Fire Chief Bill Gaul has retired after serving the area for 40 years.

Staff surprised Chief Gaul on his last day with a ride home aboard the Attack, Washington Township’s first responder between 1987 and 2007.

Gaul rode the Attack starting on its first day of service until 1992, and then again as a Deputy Chief in 2007.

He says he credits his time on the Attack with providing invaluable experience.
