HUBER HEIGHTS, Ohio (WDTN) – Police have issued a warrant for the arrest of a suspect wanted in connection with a shooting at the Villa Tavern in Huber Heights Wednesday night.

Anyone who has information on the whereabouts of Michael Prater is asked to call Huber Heights Police at 937-233-1565. He is described as a white male, stands 6’02” and weighs roughly 230 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.

He is facing four charges of felonious assault with a deadly weapon and four counts of felonious assault with serious physical harm.

Sgt. Garlow with Huber Heights Police says the shooting stemmed from an earlier altercation:

Police tell 2 NEWS the shooting happened outside the bar, located at 6303 Rip Rap Road, while a band was playing on stage. A gunman shot into the crowd, striking three victims.

2 NEWS Reporter Devero Bogart spoke briefly with one of the shooting victims, Christopher Babb. He was heading into surgery after being shot in the knee, saying that he did not see anything, he only heard gunshots before he was injured.

Two others were shot in the knee as well, and another person suffered a head injury. All were taken to area hospitals.

The bar owner says the individuals involved were not regulars, and in fact, they had been asked to leave just before walking outside where the suspect shot into the crowd.

Sgt. Garlow says it is not clear if the suspect knew the victims, but witnesses on scene were able to help detectives identify Prater as a suspect.
