Volunteers to work to clean up Great Miami River Friday

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – Volunteers will work Friday to clean up along the Great Miami River.

The Clean Sweep is a volunteer event focused on removing trash and restoring the health of the river.

One of the goals of the effort is to help communities demonstrate their desire for clean water and healthy rivers.

Several sweep events are planned Friday including Piqua, Troy, Tipp City and Taylorsville. You will also see volunteers in Dayton along Deeds Park and Carillon Park. The effort works to clean riverbanks from Indian Lake to the Ohio River.

Volunteers can work to remove trash and debris or foot or by canoe.
