Volunteers needed to install smoke alarms into local houses

The Dayton Chapter of the American Red Cross is looking for volunteers to install smoke alarms into houses.

2 NEWS and the American Red Cross are Sounding the Alarm to help keep you safe from fires.

More than 400 people called into our newscast from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday, April 24 and will receive a free smoke alarm.

The Red Cross hopes to install 100,000 free smoke alarms across the country between April 2 and May 13.

Volunteers will be scheduled to help with smoke alarm installations on May 2, 4, 8 and 10.
