Vietnam veterans honored at National Museum of the US Air Force

Local News

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – Dayton-area Vietnam War veterans were honored Friday at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force during National Vietnam War Veterans Day.

The event was part of the museum’s “Plane Talks” program. Books, photos, and planes were all on display and more than 25 veterans shared their stories.

“These are national treasures. People look at this as an aviation museum, but more importantly, it’s a history museum,” says Jack Kunz, retired Major of the United States Air Force. “These planes here are a testament of what happened in the past, and for people to realize what they were used for and not forget why they needed to be used.”

The next “Plane Talks” event is scheduled for May 18 in honor of Armed Forces Day.
