SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (WDTN) – Springfield Police say upwards of 30 car windows were smashed or shot between Monday and Tuesday.
Most of the damage happened on Sturgeon Street.
Friday, 2 NEWS caught up with the victims and the very few people who didn’t have their windows smashed.
“I’m on a fixed income. I can’t afford them busting my windows out like that all the time. It cost me $164 just for the drivers side window,” said one woman.
One woman said this has never happened in the neighborhood before and she can’t fathom why someone would go to this level.
“It’s disgusting. There are homeowners here in this neighborhood. They deserve to have their properties protected. We deserve to have our cars protected,” said Lavonne Mitchell, a Springfield resident.
With no arrests made, Springfield PD had a noticeable presence on Sturgeon throughout Friday afternoon and the week.
“For the police, I hope they can figure out who is doing this. Whoever is doing it, I hope they make them payback whoever got their windows busted out,” said one neighbor.
Other neighbors are willing to forgive. Speaking directly to whoever is involved.
“You should learn from your mistakes. Hopefully you won’t try to do this again,” said Mitchell.
Most people did not hear anything unusual on either Monday or Friday night.
