DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – About 150 people from the University of Dayton participated in an immigration simulation Friday.
It is the first time this kind of program has been held at the college and is designated to allow everyone to experience the challenges and day-to-day issues immigrants here in the United States may face.
“It’s an opportunity for students and community members to sign up and walk through what it means to be an immigrant. We have family packets for them, so they’re assigned a certain family and they’ll portray that family,” says Claudia Hampel. “It’s important to understand the process because it’s nice to know what it’s like for immigrants. We’re an immigrant-friendly city.”
The simulation was developed by UD students.
