Sleeping driver cited crashing into semi on I-75 South

MIAMI TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WDTN) – Police told 2 NEWS a driver fell asleep Monday morning before crashing into a semi-truck on I-75 in Montgomery County Monday.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol said the driver of a Chevy Equinox fell asleep and rear-ended a semi on the southbound side of I-75 near the exit ramp to I-675. The driver then went off the road and struck a guardrail before striking the semi again.

The driver of the SUV was taken to Kettering Medical Center with unknown injuries. The driver of the semi was not injured.

The driver of the SUV was cited by OSP for failure to keep assured clear distance.
