Two arrested after 911 call for water rescue

Local News

SIDNEY, Ohio (WDTN)–Two have been taken into custody for inducing panic after the Shelby County Sheriff’s office was called to rescue two men from the scene of the flooded Great Miami River.

The original call came just before 5:00 PM, near State Route 47 and Herring Rd. outside Sidney. Two men allegedly took surfboards out on the floodwaters, according to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office. Neighbors saw and called 911.

The two men then fled the scene. Law enforcement caught up with them after receiving a tip from residents that the men were walking through their property.

This follows two water rescues earlier this week. Drivers and residents are strongly encouraged to avoid flooded areas if at all possible.

We’ve reached out to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office for more info and have a crew on scene. Follow us for updates on this developing story.
