VERSAILLES, Ohio (WDTN) – The last Versailles railroad crossing reopened on Tuesday afternoon, nearly a week after a train collided with a semi-truck on the tracks.

The Village of Versailles said in a post on Facebook that a westbound CSX train hit the truck at around 8 am at the Steffin Street crossing Wednesday, March 2. CSX facilities took significant damage, leaving authorities unsure when the train can be moved.

As of 2 pm, the trailer was removed, but the train remained on the crossing.

As of Friday, March 4, nearly all the crossings had reopened including the ones at Steffen Street, Second Street and Center Street, the Villiage of Versailles said. The N. West Street crossing would remain closed through the weekend and Monday while waiting for parts to repair the damaged gates.

The N. West crossing reopened at last on Tuesday afternoon, on March 8.

According to the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT), State Route 185 and State Route 47 in Versailles were expected to be closed until Monday, March 7 due to traffic signal repairs. ODOT said to check www.OHGO.com.
