Thieves use hammer to rob jewelry store by Dayton Mall

MIAMI TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WDTN) – Police are searching for a group of suspects who walked into the Jared jewelry store by the Dayton Mall Wednesday evening, smashed a case with a hammer, and took off with an unknown amount of jewelry.

Dispatch tells 2 NEWS it happened just before 8 p.m. at the store located at 2760 Miamisburg Centerville Road.

An employee called 911 and said the thieves got away with diamonds, but could not specify how many.

A witness who ran out of the store when the robbery began also called 911 and reported that he saw at least two men in ski masks and gloves wielding “small sledgehammers.”

Three males fled from the scene in a black Chevy HHR.

No injuries were reported.
