Teen killed in fiery 2-vehicle crash identified

URBANA, Ohio (WDTN) — The teen killed in a fiery 2-vehicle crash in Champaign County Sunday has been identified.

The Champaign County Sheriff’s Office says the victim is 16-year-old Devin Marchal of West Liberty.

The crash happened around 3:15 p.m. Sunday on US-68 in Urbana.

The Champaign County Sheriff’s Office says Marchal was driving south on US-68 when he crossed the center line and hit a pickup truck.

The pickup truck burst into flames. People stopped to help and pulled a woman out of the truck.

Medics took the woman driving the truck to Grimes Airfield, where she was taken by CareFlight to Miami Valley Hospital.

Marchal was pronounced dead at the scene.

A crash report obtained by 2 NEWS indicates that Marchal may have been distracted by his cellphone, but the circumstances leading up to the crash remain under investigation.
