SWAT standoff in Harrison Township ends with one person in custody

HARRISON TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WDTN) — One person is in custody after a SWAT standoff in Harrison Township Tuesday morning.

Authorities say someone forced their way into a residence on Northcutt Place at Northland Apartments around 4 a.m. Tuesday.

There were five other people inside the residence, including three children.

Authorities treated the scene like a hostage situation and called SWAT for backup. According to authorities, the person who forced their way into the residence had a relationship with someone who lived there.

After speaking with people inside the residence, a person surrendered and was taken into custody.

No one was injured.

Authorities interviewed people inside the residence and looked for a weapon in connection with the incident.

Potential charges against the person in custody have not been released.

The incident remains under investigation.
