SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (WDTN) — A standoff with SWAT has ended with one person in custody after police spent over 14 hours outside a Springfield home.

According to the Springfield Police Department, the call came in around 3:30 a.m. for a domestic dispute in the 300 block of Fair Street. Police said that a man had a gun and was refusing to come out of the house.

Sgt. Deric Nichols told 2 NEWS that authorities negotiated with the suspect all day and the suspect surrendered shortly before 6 p.m.

Just before 1 p.m., 2 NEWS crews on the scene said SWAT removed a young boy from the home. Police confirmed there was a small child at the scene, but did not disclose any further information.

No one was injured in the standoff. The suspect will be taken to Clark County Jail. It’s not clear what charges the suspect could face.
