Man in custody after SWAT standoff in Springfield home

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (WDTN) – SWAT was called to a scene in Springfield Tuesday after a man barricaded himself in a home.

According to police, they were called to the 700 block of East High Street just after 1 a.m on reports of a domestic violence incident.

Police said during the investigation a man threatened officers and a woman at the scene with a firearm. The male barricaded himself in the home after police removed the female from the scene.

Authorities then called SWAT to the scene. Police set off tear gas and after several hours the man was removed from the home.

The man was taken to the hospital to be checked due to the use of tear gas. He is expected to face several charges.

Police said the woman had visible injuries but is OK.
