‘Suspicious death’ case now considered a homicide investigation

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – Police are now calling a suspicious death in a Dayton apartment a homicide investigation.

The victim has been identified by the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office as 67-year-old Charles Hayes.

Officers were called to a multi-family home in the 2600 block of East Fifth Street around 3:15 pm Tuesday to do a welfare check.

Police say someone found an acquaintance dead inside a kitchen of one of the apartments.

Authorities are now telling 2 NEWS that he had been shot and right now they do not know how long had passed between when he died and when he was found.

As of now, no arrests have been made.
