A suspected OVI driver was injured in a single vehicle crash in Darke County on Saturday night.

According to a release from the sheriff’s office, crews responded, around 10:45 pm, at the intersection on US 36 and Bridge Street at Gettysburg, on the report of a crash.

They say Jerry Evans III, 28, was driving eastbound on US 36, approaching Gettysburg, when his van traveled off the right side of the road striking the guardrail twice, then traveled left of center off the road colliding with the guardrail on the north side of the road before his van came to rest on the road.

According to a release, alcohol is a suspected factor in the crash.

Evans was transported to Wayne Health Care with a head injury.

The accident remains under investigation by the Darke County Sheriff’s Office
