Suspect in Dayton SWAT standoff wanted for felonious assault

Local News

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – A suspect is now in custody after a standoff with police lasting nearly nine hours.

The Pointview neighborhood off of North Main Street had been swarming with SWAT and federal authorities for most of the day Tuesday.

According to police, U.S. Marshals arrived at the scene at 7:30 Tuesday morning, looking to arrest a man on an outstanding felonious assault warrant.

Police say once the man saw the officers, he barricaded himself inside the home.

Dayton SWAT responded and had the home surrounded. However, the man refused commands to surrender.

Officers fired several tear gas canisters into the building – before a team of a dozen or so officers went inside to retrieve the man who was found hiding in the attic.
