CEDARVILLE, Ohio (WDTN) — The student who survived a school shooting at West Liberty Salem High School will begin his college career Friday.

Logan Cole will join other students moving into Cedarville University.

Cole was shot by Ely Serna inside West Liberty Salem High School in January, 2017.

He spent 15 days recovering at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus following the shooting. Cole is still continuing his recovery more than one year later.

Serna pleaded guilty to attempted murder, felonious assault and inducing panic charges. A judge sentenced him to 23.5 years in prison in May, 2018.

On Friday, Cole will join his older sister at Cedarville Unversity, which is his parents alma mater.

Cole says he’s considering history and computer science as possible majors.

2 NEWS will have a crew at Cedarville University to speak with Cole on his first day on campus. You can see that story Friday night on 2 NEWS.
