Smoke alarm in vacant Springfield house alerts neighbors to fire

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (WDTN) — A smoke alarm still active in a vacant house alerted neighbors to a house fire in Springfield Friday morning.

Police say neighbors heard the smoke alarm, saw smoke coming from the home and called firefighters.

Firefighters responded to reports of the fire at the house on Thrasher Street near Woodbine Avenue just after 7 a.m. Friday.

When crews arrived, they called for backup due to warmer temperatures outside.

No one was injured in the fire.

Several firefighters received treatment due to the warmer temperatures.

Fire officials didn’t release an estimate of damage caused by the fire.

It remains under investigation.
