SIDNEY, Ohio (WDTN) – A home in Sidney is deemed a “total loss” after a fire late Wednesday morning.

When firefighters from the Sidney Fire Department arrived just after 11:30 am, flames were coming through the roof of the home located in the 2000 block of Old English Court.

Assistant Fire Chief Barhorst tells 2 NEWS that the only occupant of the home was already outside when firefighters arrived. He was taken to Wilson Memorial Health for a medical evaluation but is not thought to be seriously injured.

Two dogs were also rescued.

Asst. Chief Barhorst described the fire as “stubborn” given that it was in the attic.

Anna Fire Department, Lockington Fire Department, and Anna Rescue Squad also responded to assist Sidney firefighters.

Port Jefferson Fire and Perry Port Jefferson Rescue was also called to help man the Sidney Fire station.

The cause of the fire is under investigation at this time by the Sidney Fire Department.
