Shriner’s Hospital in Cincinnati moving to Dayton

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — A major addition is coming to the Dayton medical community in 2020.

Shriner’s Hospitals for Children of Cincinnati is cloing and moving to Dayton.

The hospital is relocating to the main Dayton Children’s Hospital campus.

Officials say the move will take 16 months once all legal documents are completed.

The first patients will be seen at the new location in the summer of 2020.

Shriner’s Hospital will operate in a space inside Dayton Children’s Hospital. Shriner’s will purchase certain services from Dayton Children’s, according to officials.

Shriner’s will operate as a hospital within a hospital inside Dayton Children’s.

It will be based out of the former Pediatric Intensive Care Unit inside Dayton Children’s. That area will be renovated, along with one operating room.

Those renovations will begin in June, 2019 and will take one year to complete.

Shriner’s Hospitals for Children of Cincinnati is one of four locations inside the Shriner’s network of hospitals that treats pediatric burn victims.
