GREENE COUNTY, Ohio (WDTN) — A semi hauling cigarettes flipped on its side on a Greene County highway Wednesday morning.

The crash happened just before 5 a.m. Wednesday in the westbound lanes of U.S. 35, just east of Bickett Road.

Authorities say the driver of the semi fell asleep at the wheel. The semi ran off the right side of the highway and flipped on its side in the grass median.

The driver wasn’t injured.

The semi was hauling nearly 30,000 pounds of cigarettes from the Carolinas to Indiana.

No lanes of U.S. 35 were closed due to the crash.
