DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — After a fatal crash that forced a closure that lasted several hours, I-75 North north of Dayton has reopened.
According to Montgomery County Regional Dispatch, a semi crashed into the median on I-75 North near Stanley Avenue around 4 a.m.
2 NEWS footage from the scene showed the semi on its side off the roadway in the grassy area of the on-ramp.
According to Lt. David Matthews with the Dayton Police Department, the driver of the semi lost control, crashed into the guard rail and a pole and then rolled off onto the embankment.
Two people were killed in the crash. Crews originally worked to extricate the first victim. A second was found deeper in the wreckage.
Matthews said the semi is believed to be the only vehicle involved in the crash, but ODOT camera footage will be able to verify.
