GREENE COUNTY, Ohio (WDTN) — A semi flipped on its side and caught on fire on a Greene County Road Thursday morning.

The crash happened just after 5 a.m. Thursday in the 1900 block of S.R. 72.

The Greene County Sheriff’s Office says S.R. 72 is being closed from Turnbull Road to Federal Road.

Authorities say the crash brought down power live lines across the road. DP&L crews shut down power by 6:20 a.m. Thursday, allowing Cedarville Firefighters to knock down the flames on the semi.

Fire officials say the driver was able to get out the semi and call 911. He was taken to Miami Valley Hospital Jamestown for treatment of reported minor injuries.

According to fire officials, there have been semi crashes at this exact spot on S.R. 72 in the past, due to a curve and the lack of a shoulder on the road. Several of those crashes have involved the same utility pole.

Authorities haven’t released a cause of the crash yet.
