RIVERSIDE, Ohio (WDTN) – The Riverside Police Department is asking voters to pass a 4.95-mill renewal levy next month, which would generate nearly $1.2 million.
Renewing the levy would allow the department to maintain vehicles, equipment, and cover staffing costs, and because it is a renewal, residents won’t have to pay more for their services.
“This levy is good for five years. It expires at the end of 2019, so this is a big part of the police department’s budget. So we hope everyone gets out and supports the levy and gets it renewed,” says City Manager Mark Carpenter.
The levy accounts for nearly 30 percent of the Riverside Police budget.
