RIVERSIDE, Ohio (WDTN) – A police officer requested additional backup from law enforcement while trying to take a man into custody Wednesday afternoon.

Major Sturgeon with the Riverside Police Department tells 2 NEWS that two officers were having difficulty taking a suspect into custody at a mobile home park in the 2400 block of Brio Drive.

A ‘Signal 99’ was called around 3:30 pm, asking all available officers in the area to respond in order to help get the situation under control. The call was canceled nearly a minute later.

Police officers from Dayton, Huber Heights, and Butler Township all responded to the call for backup.

Major Sturgeon says they believe the suspect was under the influence of an unknown substance.

No serious injuries were reported but the man was taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation.

He could face charges such as resisting arrest or disorderly conduct.
