MIAMI VALLEY, Ohio (WDTN) – A major Hollywood movie coming out Friday will have ties to the Miami Valley.

Retired Riverside police officer Donald White has a role in the new movie, “White Boy Rick.”

The movie tells the story of Richard Wershe, Jr.

In the 1980s, Wershe became the youngest FBI informant at the age of 14.

White plays Jimmy Harris, a crooked cop in Detroit.

This is White’s first film and he says it’s the realization of a lifelong dream.

“I was interested in acting ever since I was a child. This just gave me the opportunity once I retired to be able to push the envelope a little but further and shoot for that dream that I had,” he says. “You know, most people have dreams, but they don’t go for them. I did.”

The movie also stars Matthew McConaughey, Richie Merritt, and Jennifer Jason Leigh.

It’s releasing nationwide Friday.
