WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio (WDTN) – Wright-Patterson Air Force Base had to temporarily close their gates Friday afternoon after a Missing Child Alert was issued.

Officials say a child had wandered away from their parent sometime around 5 p.m.

When the alert was given, certain “techniques” were enacted at the gates, which created a big backup as people were trying to leave.

The child was ultimately found unharmed in a play area.

Operations have since returned to normal.
