OAKWOOD, Ohio (WDTN) – “Pups for People,” an organization that gives puppies away to people with disabilities, presented a Smith Elementary student with her service dog Monday.
Fifth-grader Lilian Rodriguez has a disorder that causes joint contractures. Her new puppy, Talula, will help her be more independent.
“Maybe when I am home alone or something and I need help with doing something, or especially at school when I need to grab something, or need help with anything, I can have her help me,” says Lilian.
The group, made up entirely of Oakwood High School students, has organized a number of fundraisers throughout the year to make Monday’s event possible.
