DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) -- Police are working to learn what led to a late night shooting in Dayton.
Officers responded to reports of a person shot on Chelsea Avenue, near Lynnhurst Avenue, around 11 p.m. Tuesday.
A 911 caller said a man knocked on his door asking for help. The caller said the man had been shot in the chest, but was standing up and talking.
When police arrived, they found a man with a gunshot wound to the chest.
Authorities say the victim was taken to Miami Valley Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Police say the man was shot at another location and went to the house on Chelsea Avenue looking for help.
The 911 caller said the man told him he was walking along Chelsea Avenue when he was shot. According to the 911 caller, the victim said he did not see who shot him, only hearing the shots.
Authorities have not released any suspect information.
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Dayton Police or Crimestoppers at 222-STOP.
