BELMONT, Ohio (WDTN) – Belmont High School hosted a “Police and Community Engagement” conference Saturday. The event featured 8 different classes for people to learn about police officers and their jobs.

There were also emergency vehicle displays, k9 demonstrations, and interactive taser demos. It was free and open to the public.

John Pawelski is the Director of the Miami Valley Crime Prevention Association. He says, “the ‘shoot don’t shoot’ scenario and the interactive one that Beavercreek is putting on we’re getting a lot of feedback on. It gets your adrenaline going. I mean we put you in the position of being a police officer and you decide whether you’re going to take someone’s life or not.”

More than 156 people attended Saturday’s conference.
