HAMILTON, Ohio (WDTN) – A teenage boy is recovering after emergency crews found him holding onto a rope hanging from a tree roughly 20 to 30 feet from the shore of the Great Miami River.

At 7:30 pm, the Hamilton Fire Department responded to the Great Miami River near Joyce Park for reports of a male subject in trouble in the water.

Three engine companies, a river rescue unit, one medic unit, and a shift commander arrived to find the 15-year-old male holding onto a rope that was hanging from a tree.

He appeared cold and tired, but was conscious and alert.

Two paramedics were able to rescue him by throwing him a rope and pulling him to shore.

He was taken to the hospital for further evaluation.
