DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – A sobriety checkpoint will be held on the west side of Dayton Friday night.
The Combined Agency OVI Task Force of Montgomery County will operate a sobriety checkpoint in the area of Salem Avenue and West Hillcrest Avenue.
The checkpoint is scheduled to begin at 9:00 pm.
The goal of the OVI Task Force is to reduce the number of alcohol/drug related traffic crashes, injuries and fatalities in Dayton and Montgomery County.
Law enforcement says sobriety checkpoints help deter impaired driving and aid in the apprehension of impaired drivers who choose to get behind the wheel and drive.
Police remind motorists that driving while impaired is illegal and endangers the lives of everyone on the roadway.
Operational support will be provided by law enforcement officers from the Combined Agency OVI Task Force of Montgomery County.
