OVI checkpoint to be held in Dayton Thursday night

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – Police are holding a sobriety checkpoint in  Montgomery County Thursday night.

The OVI Checkpoint is being held by the Dayton Police Department and the Combined Agency OVI Task Force of Montgomery County.

The checkpoint will run from 7 pm to 11 pm in the area of East Third Street and Terry Street.

The task force says in 2018, there were 559 OVI crashes in Montgomery County: 13 of them were fatal, 227 were injury crashes, and 326 were property damage crashes. In addition, there were 251 drug-related crashes.

Law enforcement reminds drivers that anyone drinking alcohol is urged to designate a driver for yourself and for those you share the road with.
