DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and the Montgomery County Combined Agency OVI Task Force said Tuesday they will conduct an OVI sobriety checkpoint Tuesday from 7 pm until 11 pm.

The OVI checkpoint will be held in the 4600 block of North Main Street in Harrison Township.

The task force says checkpoint locations are chosen based on statistical data.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office has made 38 arrests for impaired driving at or near this checkpoint location in 2018. In 2017, deputies made 110 arrests in the same area for impaired driving.

OVI checkpoints provide a valuable opportunity for law enforcement to educate the public about the dangers and consequences associated with impaired driving while identifying and removing impaired drivers from our roadways, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office says.

Deputies from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and officers from the Combined Agency OVI Task Force will be out conducting OVI saturation patrols in conjunction with the OVI checkpoint and throughout the July Fourth holiday.
