Local News

GERMANTOWN, Ohio (WDTN) – Roughly 12 different emergency crews responded to Neff’s Lawn Equipment in Germantown Wednesday night to help extinguish a massive fire.

Dispatch tells 2 NEWS they received calls around 7:45 pm reporting that flames were showing from the roof of the building, located at 9400 Eckhart Road.

Someone called 911 after seeing smoke and flames showing from the back of the building. The dispatcher had to ask him to leave the area after he noted that the flames were approaching a 500 gallon tank of oil.

About a dozen area fire departments were called in to help contain the blaze.

Drone footage sent in by a 2 NEWS viewer caught the fire while it was still in action:

Bystanders say before police asked them to leave the area, the building appeared to have mostly burned to the ground.

Eckhart Road from Rt. 123 through the railroad bridge was closed until officials could clear the scene.

When 2 NEWS first arrived, police were stopping anyone from getting too close to the area, saying that they believed hazardous chemicals were burning.

No injuries were reported.

Officials could not immediately say what caused the fire.
