Officials discuss improving safety of North Main Street in Dayton

Local News

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – The Ohio Department of Transportation found North Main Street in Dayton as one of the most dangerous roads for both drivers and civilians.

A study examined the roadway from Great Miami Boulevard to Shiloh Springs Road and found 900 crashes occurred in the area between 2015 and 2017.

Officials held a public meeting Tuesday to get ideas on how to make the area safer.

Some proposals included improving sidewalks, adding more signage, or even turning sections into a two-lane road.

The next step for the project is to get an official recommendation on the potential North Main Street projects, then seek state or federal funding to pay for the necessary safety upgrades.
