KETTERING, Ohio (WDTN) – The police officer involved in a shooting in Kettering last week has been identified.
The Kettering Police Department said Tuesday that Patrolman Matthew Stull was the officer who shot Wayne Morgan after a traffic stop.
Stull has served with the Kettering Police Department since May 2015 and has eight years of law enforcement experience including the Beavercreek Police Department and Sugarcreek Police Departments.
According to police, 31-year-old Wayne Morgan ran from a traffic stop Thursday. Patrolman Stull stopped the car chased Morgan and a struggle ensued. During the struggle, Stull noticed Morgan had a weapon.
Morgan escaped and ran into an alley, where police say he suddenly turned Stull, who fired one shot, striking Morgan in the arm.
Kettering police released dash camera video fo the encounter Friday.
