VANDALIA, Ohio (WDTN) – New legislation expected in Vandalia could result in a lower speed limit on a stretch of National Road.

Vandalia Drummer reports that City Manager Jon Crusey was authorized by Vandalia City Council this week to draft legislation that would designate U.S. 40 from Ranchview Drive to Dixie Drive as a Central Business District, meaning the speed limit would have to be lowered from 35 miles per hour to 25 miles per hour if approved by the Ohio Department of Transportation.

The legislation is expected to show up on the Council’s agenda on November 19 and if approved, will be sent to Ohio Department of Transportation for final approval.
