HARRISON TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WDTN) – The Dayton Bomb Squad was called to a home in Harrison Township Wednesday after a workman found a grenade in the basement.

Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to a home in the 3600 block of Michigan Avenue shortly after noon Wednesday.

When deputies arrived, they discovered an HVAC repair company was at the house completing a job when they located a grenade in the basement of the home.

The resident was advised of the find but said they had no knowledge of the explosive in his home, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.

The Dayton Bomb Squad was called to the scene and the immediate neighbors, as well as a childcare center, were evacuated.

The grenade was removed from the home and detonated in a safe location.

No one was injured in the incident.
