National Correctional Officers’ Week kicks off

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – National Correctional Officers’ Week kicks off Sunday. The week recognizes the work of correctional professionals who keep communities safe.

The Montgomery County Jail will offer a special event each day this week.

In a statement, Sheriff Rob Streck says Montgomery County’s correctional officers are quote: “brave, courageous and tenacious individuals who put their lives and health at risk every day to keep the public safe and provide a multitude of services to incarcerated individuals.”

The Montgomery County Jail currently has about 130 correctional staff members.
