TIPP CITY, Ohio (WDTN) — Fire investigators are working to learn the cause of a fire at a business in downtown Tipp City.
A caller reported seeing smoke coming from a business on E. Main Street near Second Street just before 5:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Tipp City Fire crews responded to the fire, before calling for backup from surrounding communities.
Mutual aid from Troy, West Milton, Casstown, Bethel and Vandalia assisted Tipp City Fire at the scene.
Fire officials say crews found the fire above the Living Simply Soap shop.
Authorities say most of the damage is on the third floor of that building. There is some smoke damage to surrounding biuldings.
No one was injured.
Family owners of Living Simply Soap say there is no dollar amount to damage yet, but it was significant.
“We make everything here and both of our soap kitchens have been destroyed,” said Clay Brown, a family owner.
Brown said his family have been at this Main Street location for eight years.
They recently opened a second manufacturing building and are looking into making their products there for the time being.
But said the outpouring of community support already is making this tragedy a little more tolerable.
