VANDALIA, Ohio (WDTN) – Those in opposition of Issue 1 made a final push Monday to rally against the proposal.
Supporters of Issue 1 say it will help reduce prison overcrowding and put more funding toward drug rehab, but opponents are concerned about it being a constitutional amendment and say Issue 1 threatens drug courts.
“We know what we’re doing here, we’ve turned a corner,” says Montgomery County Sheriff Phil Plummer. “We don’t need a constitution to beat this epidemic. We’ve got it under control.”
The latest poll from Baldwin-Wallace University shows support for Issue 1 at 43 percent, with 40 percent opposing, and 17 percent remaining undecided.
