MONROE, Ohio (WDTN) — A Monroe Police officer was injured in a crash Tuesday afternoon.
The crash happened on S.R. 7 near Apple Knoll Lane just after 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol says a Monroe officer was inside his patrol car with the overhead lights activated. The officer was stopped on the right side S.R. 4.
A pickup truck, driving south on S.R. 4 rear-ended the patrol car. The truck ran of fthe left side of the road, ending up in the median.
The force of the crash pushed the patrol car into a nearby driveway.
Medics took the driver of the pickup truck to Atrium Medical Center.
The Monroe officer was taken by medics to UC West Chester Hospital.
The crash remains under investigation.
Authorities remind all drivers to move over and slow down for vehicles with flashing lights.
Ohio’s Move Over Law requires motorists to cautiously shift over one lane – or slow down if changing lanes is not possible – when passing any vehicle with flashing lights on the side of a road.
Move over laws now exist in all 50 states to protect everyone who works and travels on our roads.
