MIAMISBURG, Ohio (WDTN) – The Miamisburg Police Department confirmed with 2 NEWS that the 2-year-old boy reported missing on Wednesday has been found safe.

Both Atticus Phillips and his mother were found safe Wednesday evening.

He was abducted by his mother around 4 pm on August 13.

Detective Sgt. Jeff Muncy said the boy’s mother finally agreed to bring the child to the police department, where the child was turned over to his legal guardian per court order out of Warren County.

The mother’s attorney helped negotiate the return of the child.

Officials say she was taken into custody, charged with interference with custody, and has been released until her next court date.

Police believe the abduction stemmed from a custody issue and that she took off with Atticus after refusing to hand the child over to another family member.

It was originally thought that she may have been heading to Kentucky.
