BUTLER COUNTY, Ohio (WDTN) – Brittany Gosney, the woman who admitted to murdering her 6-year-old son, was sentenced to 21 years to life in prison Monday.
Gosney pleaded guilty to two counts of endangering children and one count of unclassified murder on Monday, August 16. She confessed to killing James Hutchinson and dumping his body in the Ohio River.
According to our partners at WLWT, Gosney will serve 15 years to life on the murder charge and 3 years for each child endangering conviction. The sentences will run consecutive to each other.
According to Middletown Police, Gosney intended on abandoning three of her children and drove them to Rush Run Wildlife area in Preble County. As Gosney attempted to leave, James tried to get back in the car. Police said Gosney sped off and dragged James. Gosney reportedly told police she went back to get him and he was dead.
Her boyfriend, James Hamilton, is accused of helping her dispose of her son’s body. He pleaded guilty Tuesday, August 24 to kidnapping, gross abuse of a corpse and two counts of child endangering.
Several attempts were made to locate Hutchinson’s body near the Ohio River, but he has yet to be found.
